Shura Council holds its 53rd ordinary session of the second year of the seventh session.

The Shura Council held its 53rd ordinary session on Wednesday for the second year of the seventh session under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Speaker of the Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh.

At the beginning of the session, the Shura Council listened to the point of view of the Committee on Security Affairs regarding the members' opinions regarding the annual report of the Ministry of Interior for the fiscal year 2016-2017 at a previous session followed by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Atta Al-Sbeiti.

The Assistant Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Yahya Bin Abdullah Al-Sama'an said in a press statement following the meeting that the Council approved a number of recommendations of the Security Affairs Committee aimed at supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Interior to safeguard the security of the citizens.

HE Dr. Yahya Al-Samaan added that the Council then moved to discuss the report of the Committee on Transport, Communications and Information Technology on the annual report of the Public Transport Authority for the fiscal year 2017-2018, read by the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Saadoun Al Saadoun.

In its recommendations to the Council, the Committee called on the Public Transport Authority to provide an environment conducive to the establishment of companies in the field of public transport and to ensure its regulatory role and to coordinate with relevant authorities to allocate special routes for public transport buses to enhance the efficiency of urban mobility.

The Commission also called on the Authority to increase the representation of the private sector in its Board of Directors in order to achieve the vision of the Kingdom 2030, accelerate the preparation of a document protecting the rights of beneficiaries of public transport services, and develop appropriate electronic mechanisms to receive and deal with complaints.

The Council also approved a number of amendments to the provisions of the air agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia for the regular air transport approved by Royal Decree No. M / 58 dated 8/11/1409H after the Council heard the report of the Committee on Transport, Request for the proposed amendments, followed by the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Saadoun Saadoun.
